Complex Lymphatic Anomalies: Current Imaging and the Future of PET Lymphatic Imaging

In this webinar, two leading researchers explore how advances in medical imaging are helping us better understand complex lymphatic anomalies (CLAs) and paving the way for more precise diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Carson Sibley (UT Southwestern) explains how MRI and other imaging technologies are used to diagnose and monitor complex lymphatic anomalies, including GLA, KLA, Gorham-Stout disease (GSD), central conducting lymphatic anomaly (CCLA), and generalized lymphatic dysplasia (GLD). He also discusses why imaging these rare conditions remains challenging and where important gaps still exist.

Dr. Yaowu Hao (UT Arlington) introduces exciting preclinical research using PET imaging and biodegradable nanoparticles designed specifically for the lymphatic system. This emerging technology has the potential to provide clearer, more detailed images of lymphatic function and could one day improve how clinicians diagnose and monitor lymphatic diseases.

While this research is still in development and not yet available for patient care, it represents meaningful progress toward better tools for the lymphatic community.

In this webinar you'll learn:

  • What complex lymphatic anomalies are
  • How MRI and MR lymphangiography help diagnose these conditions
  • Why imaging the lymphatic system is so difficult
  • How PET imaging may transform lymphatic care
  • The future of lymphatic-specific imaging research
