Dr. Outtz Reed is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Weill Cornell. She received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University and her M.D./Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Columbia University. Her clinical training in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary and Critical Care was done at the University of Pennsylvania, where she also conducted her postdoctoral research with Dr. Mark Kahn. In her lab at Weill Cornell, Dr. Outtz Reed studies the role of the pulmonary lymphatic vasculature in chronic lung disease and lung homeostasis. Dr. Outtz Reed has developed novel mouse models for studying impaired pulmonary lymphatic flow and is among the first to have shown a direct connection between lymphatic dysfunction and lung injury. Ongoing work in her lab will investigate how underlying lymphatic dysfunction affect’s the lung’s response to injury and the mechanism by which occurs, as well as developing novel therapeutics to target the lung lymphatic vasculature.
